Evelin Martinez

EVelin Martinez

Evelin grew up in South Central Los Angeles with her five siblings and parents who emigrated from El Salvador in 1980. She has worked in the South LA area since 2008 providing health care to her community. As a Physician Assistant it was apparent that her patients needed some form of exercise to help improve their health. But there were very few areas where patients could go and get these services. Since 2010 she has been providing some form of exercise to help patients reach a healthier state.

Evelin and her siblings, especially her sisters, had very few places themselves to exercise as children, and it has long been a vision of hers to provide a safe space where kids, adults, and seniors can partake in as many wonderful classes as they can to help them live more fun and fulfilled lives.

Kendra relocated to California in 2000, where she continued to work with underserved communities in the South Central Los Angeles area in primary care clinics and social services agencies. In 2016, she returned to school to earn a credential in the substance use and addiction field. Kendra is currently employed at the UMMA Community Clinic as the Lead Therapist.

Margarita Martinez

Margarita Martinez was born and raised in South Central Los Angeles, now referred to as South Los Angeles. She specializes in business operations, and has worked in the entertainment industry for over a decade.

Not being exposed to fitness as a child, Margarita has taken fitness classes in different areas as an adult, from Muay Thai Kickboxing to Pilates and everything in between. Understanding the importance of fitness studios and seeing the lack of fitness studios in South Los Angeles, Margarita has joined the board of South Central Foundation for Fitness, Dance, and Arts to build a safe place for those in low income areas to have a space to work out, dance, and create art.

Temica Boutte

Temica Boutte has been passionate about her patients being healthy for over 19 years. Her passion to help patients as a Physician Assistant compelled her along with her colleague Evelin Martinez to provide free exercise and nutrition classes in the community. It later blossomed into a nonprofit whose vision is to provide a community center in South Central Los Angeles to provide fitness classes as well as dance and art classes. Temica now is helping patients in Santa Ana and will provide classes to this community as well. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, reading, listening to music, and bike riding!
